Columbia County is located in the Susquehanna Valley of Pennsylvania.  It has a geographical land area of 490 square miles.   There are 24 Townships, and 8 Boroughs in the County. The County seat is Bloomsburg the first town of Pennsylvania.  The population in 2000 was Approximately 64,000 with about 19% of the residence 62 or older and 21% of the population 18 or younger.
Bloomsburg is the home to Bloomsburg University. There are 8 School Districts in Columbia County and a Vocational Technical School that serves Columbia and neighboring Montour County.
